Art Across Borders
25 June - 20 August 2022
This summer, a beautiful exhibition "Summer Group Show" at the Frédérick Mouraux Gallery
The success of a Group Show depends essentially on the hanging of diversified works which must cohabitate without harming each other. At the Frédérick Mouraux Gallery, one can appreciate the delicacy and sensitivity with which these connections are made.
Difficult when we see the great variety of supports (from plastic to canvas), techniques (photos, sculptures, collages...) dimensions, or the variety of messages from each artist; artists who can express themselves freely.
It is a real pleasure to linger and look at this gallery of talents: 19 artists coming from the four corners of the world whose works speak to our sensitivity, to our collective artistic unconscious, to our societal and planetary concerns.
In the first space of the Gallery, we discover a natural universe through the works of Bob VERSCHUEREN, Olivier PESTIAUX and Raphaële DE BROISSIA. As well as the prints of Erik SAMAKH, childhood memories of Kenan HASIMBEGOVIC, portraits seen by Thierry ARDITTI, Fab RIDETI, and Carmen MARISCAL, and ecology with Lucy and George ORTA.
The first artist, Bob VERSCHUEREN, scans nature and represents it with a double leaf portrait. Olivier PESTIAUX invites us to reflect through the memory of a dried flower that pierces through, buried under multiple layers. Raphaële DE BROISSIA gives life to materials interpreting them with a dazzling gradation of greens and blues, like a flamboyant terrestrial or underwater plant. Erik SAMAKH challenges us with his prints that echo primitive art. Kenan HASIMBEGOVIC revives our childhood memories. Thierry ARDITTI's photographs are a hymn to women; Fab RIDETI's portraits question the impermanence of Flemish art with regard to the woman in the making and her role. Those of Carmen MARISCAL question us on the condition of the woman and memory. The porcelain of Lucy and George ORTA sublimates ecology.
In the second gallery, you will discover the very contemporary space with the hanging of the artists Jean-Philippe DUBOSCQ, virtuoso of construction/deconstruction by his folds, tears, cuts, next to the New Yorker Jonathan ADOLPHE who works the plexiglass with the flame, and the futuristic sculptures of Thomas Marvin KING. The space is punctuated by beautiful monochromes by Christian DE WULF and the Englishman Dom GRAY, three glass plates by the Parisian artist Henri WAGNER. A video by the French artist Samuel ROUSSEAU calls out to us next to a painting by Barbara DEBEUCKELAERE whose universe is worth discovering. In the middle of the Summer Group Show, the work of the French artist Françoise CATALÀA is a real tribute to memory. Finally, the sculptures of Mikael LALLEMAND PELLICER are also exhibited at the Spanish Embassy in Brussels.
These creators know how to use very elaborate and new techniques as well as to draw from a more classical repertoire of expression and always without denying, on the contrary, the ancestral history (by the prints in particular) and the evolution of art, seeking in the repertoire of the great principles of quality of art (the golden number, balance, unity, variety...)
Summer Group Show at the Frederick MOURAUX GALLERY is a real success and is waiting to be seen.
We invite you to contact the gallery if you would like a private visit this summer from June 25th to August 20th, 2022.
