For his second solo exhibition at the Frédérick Mouraux Gallery, Samuel Rousseau brings the vast walls of the gallery's two spaces to life with drawings, sculptures and installations. His videos literally VIBRATE the exhibition surfaces.
As opposed to the 2022 exhibition, entitled "From Darkness to Light", this exhibition is titled "Daydream by Samuel Rousseau". In fact, in this new exhibition the discourse is quite different.
It's all about the relationship between video, light, space, time, and images that are bursting with inventiveness and energy, and in which the signs of an imaginary and poetic memory are interwoven. From there, Samuel Rousseau turned his attention to the search for beauty and happiness, both essential to humanity.
What a surprise it is for visitors to plunge into "the light of the world" and experience the "sensitive" rather than being overwhelmed by gloom and ugly, negative feelings.
Let us be taken in by the dream of someone who juggles with light like a true poet.
Let us visit an important work with simplicity.
Let us be guided by the penetrating and beautiful reality of Samuel Rousseau's work.
And what a surprise it is to discover works that are intended to be bright and positive, no longer dwelling on the very dark problems we currently face with regards to our planet and our society (strikes, wars, climate change, inequality...).
The artist likes to turn situations upside down, to overturn the codes that govern the patterns of our perception. Samuel Rousseau makes digital art warm, ingenious, and even, reassuring.
The only thing that counts is the interaction between viewer and images.
The videos lead us on poetic and aesthetic journeys that do not obscure the dark realities of our world. The work is at once dedicated to happiness and to the dramas of life.
