Jean-Philippe DUBOSCQ

TWO-TIME

16 March - 3 May 2025

Opening Sunday 16 March, 2025 from 2 to 7 pm, in presence of the artist.

Frédérick Mouraux Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition: "TWO-TIME" by Jean-Philippe Duboscq, the artist’s third solo show at the gallery.

“The fold is an infinite mystery, it is a container, a baroque magic that does not bear to be brought to light.”

Jean-Philippe Duboscq's work is linked to the concepts of instability, chance and the unexpected: he reveals what he cannot control or what escapes him. He proceeds by destroying, tearing or ripping. Through successive layers, he coats the canvases with paint whose bright pigments have been scrupulously chosen. The folds are thought out, folded and articulated differently
depending on the material of the canvas used. The often modular nature of his work is open to interpretation. His works can be multiplied, amputated or, on the contrary, added together, thus unfolding into installations in which the artist intervenes as a “performer”.

Jean-Philippe Duboscq is a French-Belgian artist who lives and works in Brussels. At the age of 16, he entered the renowned school La Cambre to study painting and visual arts. He also developed a passion for music and composing, which enabled him to work in collaboration with the likes of Peter Dowsbrough and Bram Bogart amongst other artists.

The artist conceives conceptual artworks: he searches for an aesthetic through an idea, rather than through a desire for control. For him, the work appears in permanent mobility, putting into perspective what he paints, what seeps in or overflows. Jean-Philippe Duboscq becomes a spectator, he discovers his work without controlling it.For more information, please contact the gallery : info@frederickmourauxgallery.com / www.frederickmourauxgallery.com
