Womanhood, Man’s Soulmate

Most of my photographs are words of love.
My works at the Frédérick Mouraux Gallery illustrate figures and attitudes conveying those thoughts in the back of women’s minds of which most men have not the slightest idea.
Artists and writers possess that “primitive thinking” envisioned by Lévi-Strauss in his book “The Savage Mind”: thinking in an untamed state as opposed to being cultivated or domesticated for the purpose of yielding a return.
At the top of a portrait of Christina Maria Gerhard, wife to Stéphane Mallarmé, by the photographer Pierre Petit, appears the poet’s couplet and monogram: “Here is the best of the pair / the half which no blame bears.”

Frédérick Mouraux Gallery is honored to present an exhibition of recent works of art by Thierry Arditti. This exhibition, entitled “Womanhood, Man's Soulmate” offers images of women who demonstrate that in each of them there is a “Man’s Soulmate” which they finally release! These strong images hold multiple facets, surrounded by thoughtfulness, sensuality, aggressivity, intense effort. With his choices, Thierry Arditti inspires the viewer to feel these claims of equality that women feel when facing their intimate body. The exhibition at Frédérick Mouraux Gallery is a sensory and aesthetic narrative in a feminine universe, which strives to show that women have a capacity to express their true nature, in harmony with their own identity.
It was at the FIAC in 1995 that Frédérick Mouraux was intrigued by a photo of a French artist: Thierry Arditti. When you are confronted with a work of art which “speaks” to you, the art obviously corresponds to an inner feeling: through memories, emotions and personal questioning. There is no doubt that Thierry Arditti’s work leaves nobody indifferent! The first encounter with Thierry Arditti quickly led to a friendship, which has deepened over the years.
Brimming with charisma, Thierry Arditti is extremely influential with his diligence and professionalism. When he speaks about his artistic approach, he reveals his world of humanity. He always photographs in silence, in a serene ambiance, using models who have lived through life’s enhancing experiences; joy, happiness, difficulties, disappointment..., telling their story in a single portrait, in a single “click”, a snapshot of life, looking for the DNA of each woman, each body, each look, each soul... In his studio, he prepares for his photo shoots in a meticulous manner, over a long period of time, using his personal, technical and psychological talent. Literature and philosophy provide Thierry Arditti with the “nourishment” necessary for his own vision of life and his own creativity.
